Dutchy's Gourmet Sausages Accessibility Statement

Dutchy's wants everyone to be able to shop for South African food and groceries with us, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.

Our goal

We aim for our website, dutchys.com, to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These are the internationally recognized standards for accessible websites.

What we've done

In October 2026 we reviewed our website against WCAG 2.2 AA using automated testing and keyboard-only testing on desktop and mobile. We then fixed the issues we found, including:

  • adding text descriptions so screen readers can identify our logo, images and page sections
  • writing descriptive alt text for every product photo in our store, including the back of each package where ingredients and nutrition information are shown
  • making sure keyboard users only reach content that is visible on screen, and can browse product photos and slideshows with the keyboard
  • letting visitors pause moving content, and pausing it automatically for visitors who have turned on "reduce motion" on their device
  • improving the color contrast of hard-to-read text
  • making buttons and links large enough to tap easily
  • fixing the structure of our menus, lists and headings so screen readers announce them correctly

We re-test after making changes to our website and review it regularly.

Known limitations

Accessibility is ongoing work, and some parts of our website may not yet be fully accessible. Some features come from third parties, such as our Shopify checkout, payment providers, reviews and other add-ons. We choose our providers carefully, but we can't fully control their accessibility. If something gets in your way, please tell us. We'll help you complete your order another way and work on fixing the problem.
